FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR VISIT

Bring your insurance or Medicaid card or cash. Our fees are based on a sliding scale. Most insurances are accepted. No one is ever turned away because of inability to pay.

Know the date your last normal period started (not the date it ended).

If you are going to have  an exam, do not put anything in the vagina for at least 2 days before the exam:

No sex

No medication

No douching

No feminine deodorant sprays or powder

What to expect  if this is your first visit at Planned Parenthood of Southern New Jersey.

Your first visit at PPSNJ will take longer than any return visit because there is much to do.

When you enter the waiting room proceed to the glass window and sign in.

You will be processed in the order of your sign-in but someone who arrived after you may be called first. People visit our sites for many reasons.

You will be given a New Client Packet of information and a clipboard with forms you will need to fill out. This information will enable the clinician to help you decide if the method you have selected is right for you. The more we know about you and your body, the better medical care we can provide.

Return your completed forms to the receptionist.

You will then be called for a private interview.

Lab is the next stop.

  • Height, weight and blood pressure will be measured

  • Blood will be drawn for various tests.

  • Depending on your history we may ask you for a urine sample.

Then you will have your physical exam.

Next you will meet with a nurse to discuss the method of birth control you have chosen and learn how to use it. Be sure to ask any question you may have.
